I am a San Francisco Bay Area native, the younger son of a child psychiatrist and a pain specialist RN.

I started my undergraduate education at De Anza College in Cupertino, CA, then on to UC San Diego, where I graduated with highest honors/summa cum laude in Political Science - Public Policy. From there I moved to New York City to get my MD at Weill Cornell Medicine, where I graduated in the top three of the class of 2013.

I completed three years of adult psychiatry and two years of child psychiatry training at UC San Francisco, where I finished as chief fellow of child psychiatry. I went on to complete one more year of fellowship in addiction psychiatry at the University of Colorado, Anschutz, focusing on addiction of all kinds in adolescents and adults.

Since 2021, I have been working full time at the San Francisco VA as a Staff Psychiatrist and Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, treating veterans and teaching young doctors how to do this work I love. I have learned more in this position than all of my training before it.

Outside of work, I have been active in Camp Opportunity, a summer camp for 'at risk' youth in Santa Cruz County, since 1999, where I spent 20 years as a 1-on-1 counselor and now serve as treasurer for our board of directors.

Ultimately, my primary expertise is in psychopharmacology most broadly. That is, the intersection between medicines (pharmaceutical and otherwise) and minds, and the utilization of those medicines to alleviate suffering and improve mental well-being.

I work primarily in a consultative, rather than directive, role, understanding that every person is the world's #1 expert on themselves.
